How to Check Emirates ID Status & Expiry Date (2026 Guide)

The Emirates ID is the most important identity document for every UAE resident. Whether you've just applied, renewed, or want to confirm an upcoming expiry, this guide shows you exactly how to check your Emirates ID status online in 2026.

1. Check Emirates ID status via the ICP website

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) is the primary channel for Emirates ID checks.

  1. Visit icp.gov.ae and choose Services → ID Card Status.
  2. Enter your application number (PRAN) or your Emirates ID number (784-YYYY-XXXXXXX-X).
  3. Submit and you'll see the current stage: Under process, Ready for collection, Issued, or Expired.

2. Use the UAE Pass app

If you already have a verified UAE Pass, the easiest way is the mobile app:

  • Open UAE Pass → My documents.
  • Your Emirates ID card appears with the expiry date and a digital copy.

3. Check Emirates ID expiry date

Your expiry date is printed on the back of the card. For digital verification, use ICP's Validity Check service — it returns the exact expiry day, month and year.

4. What to do when it's close to expiry

You can renew an Emirates ID up to 6 months before the expiry date, and there's a 30-day grace period after expiry before fines apply (AED 20 per day, capped at AED 1,000).

5. Managing many employees? Don't rely on spreadsheets

HR teams in the UAE typically manage dozens or hundreds of Emirates IDs. Manual tracking leads to missed renewals and fines. Salahiya monitors every employee's Emirates ID, visa, labour card and passport — with automatic email alerts at 90, 60, 30, 14, 7 and 1 day before expiry. See pricing or read our UAE visa renewal guide and labour card renewal guide for the rest of the compliance picture.
