How the UAE grace period works
After a residence visa expires, residents generally get a grace period of around 30 days to renew or exit — some visa categories differ, and Golden Visa holders have longer terms. Once the grace period ends, overstay fines accrue per day and can block new visa applications for the same person.
When to start renewing
Begin 30 to 60 days before expiry. The sequence is usually: medical fitness test → Emirates ID application → visa stamping/typing. For employees, the labour card or work permit is renewed in the same cycle, so check all three dates together.
Managing more than one person?
A calculator works for one document. For a team, Salahiya stores every employee's visa, Emirates ID, labour card, passport and health card and emails reminders at 90, 60, 30 and 7 days before each expiry — no spreadsheet to maintain.
